Our U9 Lions went on a cricketing safari to the baking savannah of Bowdon last Friday.
Our young team, led by captain Stan, chose to field first. Caolan and Stan bowled beautifully without any reward, while Dhani, Zachary and Momin delivered some excellent balls but couldn’t quite get a wicket.
As we reached the half way point in their innings the boys were really hot and tired and they did very well to stay as focused as they did👏. Meanwhile the opposition were staying cool in the shade of the covers!
In response the Whalley Range batters performed gallantly, with Eddie, Caolan, Ethan, Stan and Ibrahim in particular putting on a great show. Caolan sent one ball for six with an extra cover drive, showing skill way beyond his years.
In the end we came second…but the players should all be very proud of themselves again. They are a lovely bunch of children who are making friends as they go through the season. 🏏🔥🥵
